I was born and raised in El Paso, and graduated from Burges High School.  Upon graduation I attended Texas State University in San Marcos, TX and graduated with a BS in Biology with a minor in Chemistry.  I have a Masters in Education as an Instructional Specialist from the University of Texas El Paso .  I have taught many subjects here at Coronado, including Integrated Physics & Chemistry, Biology, and Physics.  However, I have enjoyed teaching Physics the most.

Course Goals
Develop each student’s intuition, creativity and investigative skills to do the following:

  • Read, understand, and interpret physical information.
  • Use the scientific method to analyze a particular physical phenomenon or problem.
  • Use basic mathematical reasoning in a physical situation or problem.
  • Perform experiments, interpret the results of observations and communicate results, including uncertainty assessment.

Class Rules

1.  Do not disrupt the learning process, specifically do not speak when I am speaking or giving instruction.
2.  You may talk with your classmates when working in class, just stay in your seats and speak in normal tones.
3.  While students are on campus, they will adhere to the EPISD Code of Conduct.
4.  Treat others and me as you would like to be treated. Behave as young adults, and take your work seriously.


Grading Policy

AP Physics 1

Assessments – 70%

  • 6-10 per nine weeks
  • Consist of Tests, Quizzes, Performance Tasks, & Projects

Class Work – 20%

  • Please see syllabus for grading Rubric
  • Consists of daily work & labs

Homework – 10%

  • Consist of Electronic HW & take home


Physics

Assessments – 50%

  • 6-10 per nine weeks
  • Consist of Tests, Quizzes, Performance Tasks
  • Projects are Extra Credit

Class Work – 30%

  • Please see syllabus for grading Rubric
  • Consists of daily work & labs

Homework – 20%

  • Traditional homework or finish at home
