District Speaking Development Events-FFA
Posted on 01/26/2017
On January 21, 2017, Tweleve El Paso Coronado FFA members (Samantha Beltran, Carlos Castillo, Kayla Wolf, Nicole Gonzales, Alexander Pustinger, Luis Valdez, Amanda De Coste, Diego Meneses, Paul Bernhard, Hannah Tuttle, Alejandro Navarette, and Paola Perez) participated in the annual Rocky Mountain District Speaking Development Events. Speaking Development Events, or SDE’s, are contests designed to develop the ability of members to express themselves on a given subject through a speech, and are encouraged to develop their communication skills and learn to formulate remarks in response to questions on their presentations; in this competition, as well, students run for district officer positions and prepare to run for area officer positions. Students began to prepare their speeches and presentations in mid-November and worked tirelessly, with the help of the advisors, to create, improve, and finalize their speeches. After months of practice, the day came for the students to present their speech by memory to a panel of judges; thanks to the hard-work and dedication of our students the El Paso Coronado FFA has a total of nine students competing at the area level, one District Officer, and two students running for Area Officer positions at Area Convention on May 15, 2017 in San Angelo, Texas. We wish Them the best of luck!
