High Q Team Heads to Nationals

Coronado's High-Q team won the city championship on Tuesday night, beating El Paso High in the finals by a score of 565 - 185. The team will now go on to Nationals in Washington DC, where they hope to go one step further than last year, when they advanced all the way to the championship game, falling short by only 10 points. Team members are Andrew Paton, Luke Minton, Teddy Cai, Sheel Patel and Hunter Stufflebeam.

2 UIL Regional Winners Advance to State

After winning the 1-6A Area UIL (University Interscholastic League) Meet at Chapin High School on March 28, Coronado's area winners traveled to Arlington, Texas on April 24 - 25 to compete.

     Placing at the meet were: 

1.  Abigail Spitzer --1st individual in Spelling--Advanced to State
2.  Luke Minton--6th individual in Spelling
3.  Garrett Cunningham--1st individual in Feature Writing--Advanced to State
4.  Michele Nadler--6th individual in Feature Writing
5.  Natalie Huseby--4th individual in Headline Writing
     Previously, Coronado won the 1-6A District Meet with a score of 442.50.  The second place team, Franklin, scored 328.50, and the third place team was Americas with 110 points. 

Coronado's teams placed in the following events:
Calculator Applications - 1st place
Computer Science - 1st place
Cross Examination Debate - 1st place
Journalism - 1st place tie with Franklin
Mathematics - 1st place 
Number Sense - 1st place 
Science - 1st place 
Speech - 2nd place
Spelling and Vocabulary - 1st place
